Introduction to Solar System

 Introduction to Solar System

SOL- Roman God of sun. Within the universe we have numerous galaxy one such galaxy is one such galaxy is milky way galaxy. Which is discovered in 1704 the term solar system was first appeared in English in 1781. Star is defined as a huge ,a massive body of luminescent matter radiating enormous amount of energy second. Each star holds around itself ,under the influence of force of gravity, a variable number of relatively small sized ,non-radiating bodies of matter, called Planets. The basic difference between star and a planet is in their masses: a star is thousand times bigger than a planet . Because of such an enormous mass very high temperatures are reached in the interior of a star that make it radiate energy.

Components of Solar System

The nine planets and the sun are the main bodies of solar system. The planets revolve around the sun along regular stable and nearly circular paths called orbits, that lies almost in the same plane. The planets on the basis if their distance from the sun and other broad similarities, the nine planets conveniently fall into two groups

Inner planets

Four planets , namely Mercury, Venus, the Earth , and Mars constitute the terrestrial group. They are characterized with:
  • Relatively smaller masses
  • Higher densities
  • Shower speeds of rotation and
  • Less number of satellites.

Outer planets

They are also called superior planets and include five members Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus,
Neptune, and Pluto . They are Characterized with (with the exception of pluto)
  • Very larger masses
  • Much lower densities
  • Faster rotations and
  • Higher number satellites
Note: ( We gonna discuss the deep geological backgrounds of these planets in our upcoming blogs)

Moons

Moons are the natural satellites of the planets.  Natural Satellites Or Moons are defined as the celestial body that moves around planet.Moon of the earth is the 5th largest in the solar system, and its 1/4 of the earth diameter. The distance between the moon and earth is around 3,84,400 km. The tides in the oceans were formed due the Gravitational attraction between the moon and the earth. Ganymed- the largest moon in Solar system and it is in Jupiter. Titan would be the second largest moon in solar system and is of the Saturn.

Asteroids

Small Rocky substance exist between mars and Jupiter .

Meteoroids

Small Particles moves around the sun.

Comets

Comets are cosmic snowballs of frozen gases ,rock and dust ,they have tail like structure  and they orbit around the sun.

Pulsars:

Pulsars are highly magnetized bodies rotating compact star that emits beams of electromagnetic radiation our of its magnetic poles.
